It is with great pleasure that I announce the approval, by the International Astronomical Union, of the IAU Symposium 359 above, that will take place in the town of Bento Gonçalves, in the south of Brazil, from March 2 to 6, 2020. This pleasant town – located 1.5 hours by car from the international airport of Porto Alegre, is the host of some of the best wineries in Brazil and excellent Italian food.
In recent years, our research group at Instituto de Física – UFRGS in Porto Alegre, as well as new groups in our state of Rio Grande do Sul, have been dedicated to the study several aspects of galaxy evolution and hope to receive many colleagues, collaborators, students and friends from Brazil and all around the world for 5 days dedicated to scientific exchange of new findings and ideas.
