Background

- I have studied Physical Sciences at the Instituto de Física da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro at the undergraduate level (1983-1987).

- My graduate studies in Astrophysics were carried out at Observatório Nacional do Rio de Janeiro and at the Astronomy Department - Caltech. (1988-1993)

- As a Postdoctoral fellow, I spent 3 years at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge University, United Kingdom (1993-1996).

- I am currently a lecturer at the Departamento de Astronomia, Instituto de Física, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. (1997- )

Do you trust Brazilian institutions? Please take a look at the internet site of Bernardo Santiago. This chap is my younger brother. He was 18 years old and loved life. He was murdered in 19/02/2002. The accused? The son of a Police Chief in the Brazilian capital who had previously murdered Italo Borges, but still was kept out of prison (in Portuguese).
