Background

- I have studied Physical Sciences at the Instituto de Física da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro at the undergraduate level (1983-1987).

- My graduate studies in Astrophysics were carried out at Observatório Nacional do Rio de Janeiro and at the Astronomy Department - Caltech. (1988-1993)

- As a Postdoctoral fellow, I spent 3 years at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge University, United Kingdom (1993-1996).

- I am currently a lecturer at the Departamento de Astronomia, Instituto de Física, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. (1997- )
