INVESTIGATIONS IN SCIENCE TEACHING is a journal aiming exclusively at research on the teaching/learning of sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, or natural sciences when they are focused integratively). Are accepted for publication just papers on: 1) research specifically on science teaching/ learning; 2) literature review about some specific research area on science teaching/learning, in a period of at least ten years, including the main international journals of the area; 3) theoretical frameworks with clear implications for research on science teaching/learning, including frameworks not yet well known in this area; 4) educational research methodologies directly relevant to investigations on science teaching/learning; 5) critique (or defense), and comments about articles published in this journal.
Reports of experiences, didactical proposals that are not associated with research, and papers that present just surveys of opinions, conceptions or numerical data through questionnaires and interviews will not be considered for refereeing.
All submissions are given unbiased consideration regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin, or religion of the authors. All reviews are blind reviewed by at least two experienced researchers on science teaching. Articles of any theoretical and methodological orientation, dealing with any particular aspect of science teaching/learning are accepted for submission, once these articles are original and have not been submitted for publication in other journals. Investigations in Science Teaching considers submissions in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Those that are accepted are published in their original language without translation.
This journal publishes three issues per year: April, August and December. It is supported by the Physics Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Distribution is mainly electronic, via World Wide Web. All published articles in Investigations in Science Teaching can be reproduced for personal and/or instructional use, unless there are contrary indications.
Article submission to publication can be made electronically. Title, author(s)’name(s), institutional affiliation, and the abstract in the original language must appear in the cover page. From the second page on, these data cannot appear so that it will not be possible to identify the author(s), including references, that is, self-referencing must be left out of the manuscript and incorporated only after the article has been accepted. Manuscripts that do not abide by these instructions will be returned to the sender. The electronic address for sending article for submission is: ienci@if.ufrgs.br
In the submission letter the author(s) should make clear that the paper has not been submitted to other journals. When the paper has more than three authors, that letter must include a justification for the multiplicity of authors.
